Ghana’s national system for plant clinic consultations — where trained plant doctors diagnose crop pests and disease, and every visit becomes part of the country’s plant health record.
A farmer visits a local plant clinic with a diseased crop, a photograph, or a description of what’s gone wrong in the field.
A trained plant doctor records the case, diagnoses the pest or disease, and prescribes a course of treatment on the spot.
Every consultation feeds PPRSD’s national data, mapping pest and disease pressure across Ghana’s districts as it happens.
For years, Ghana’s plant clinics ran on CABI’s Plantwise programme and paper record sheets. This system carries that work forward — owned, hosted, and maintained by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture’s Plant Protection and Regulatory Services Directorate, so plant doctors in every district can keep working long after outside support ends.
